I love creating out of the ordinary events that have the ability to bring all walks of life into one room.
In 2016, during my senior year of high school, I created a streetwear brand called Big Face. During my freshman year of college, I found myself looking to host release events for new Big Face clothes. We would print everything in a very DIY process so we were always really excited when everything was done. These events would draw mainly our friends and friends of friends. I gradually started to see that I was enjoying the process of planning and carrying out the events more than creating the actual clothes (not to say that I don’t enjoy designing and printing). I found myself falling in love with art and music more than I ever had. Coincidentally, I was also meeting a bunch of different artists and musicians at the time. I put two and two together and realized there’s so much more that we can do with these events.
I primarily enjoy working with independent or underground artists. I work independently and have often found that the people who are most enthusiastic about their craft are those working with no professional support. I have a strong desire to help artists gain well-deserved exposure and grow in their own way. Through events, I’ve grown to be friends with independent artists that make some of my favorite music and art to date. Incredible music and art is being made right in your backyard! Get familiar with your community, community, community... ︎︎︎
Events, to me, are a way to bring communities together. Whatever the focus is - they’re a space for people to join and enjoy something together with all outside stress left behind. These environments should be all inclusive and have zero exception for any form of hate. By doing so, we can create a space for all members of the community to feel comfortable. I see this as a vital piece to a healthy community.
Each and every one of us has a lot going on in our lives. These events are something to look forward to every once in a while. They’re a place to experience something new, meet new people, or just a place to let loose.
